2022 Milestones

2022 : Global Expansion

In 2022, Global Ehsan Relief expanded its reach and impact both on the ground and around the globe. From installing our first electric water wells in Cambodia to constructing a sustainable masjid in the Middle East, GER focused on innovative, long-term solutions. New offices in Pakistan and the UK strengthened our global presence, while rapid emergency response in Cianjur, Indonesia reflected our growing agility.

Project 1:

1st Electric Water Well Implementation

In remote villages where darkness had always fallen heavily after sunset, a quiet revolution took place as Global Ehsan Relief installed its first electric water wells. These technological marvels not only provided clean water but did so with unprecedented efficiency and reliability. In a Cambodian community that had previously relied on hand-pumped wells operated primarily by women and children, the electric system began drawing water at the push of a button. "I used to spend three hours every day pumping water," shared mother-of-four Samina, gesturing toward her daughters studying under a nearby tree. "Now they use that time for education, and I can focus on my small embroidery business."

Project 2:

GER Office Opening (Pakistan & UK)

As GER's field operations expanded, so did its organizational footprint with the establishment of strategic new offices in Pakistan and the United Kingdom. The Pakistan office opened in Multan, positioning the organization to respond more effectively to both the country's frequent natural disasters and the needs of Afghan refugees crossing the border. At the inauguration ceremony, local staff who had previously worked remotely finally collaborated under one roof, their collective expertise now streamlined for greater impact.

Meanwhile, the Bradford office marked GER's first European presence, opening new channels for fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and advocacy among diaspora communities and British supporters. "Our approach to humanitarian work resonates with people from all backgrounds," noted the UK director during the office launch. "This expansion allows us to build meaningful partnerships with British institutions while bringing authentic field perspectives to European discussions about global development."

Project 3:

Constructed 1st Mosque in Middle East: Ar Rayyan

In the arid landscape of the Middle East, GER celebrated the completion of Masjid Ar Rayyan, its first mosque project in the region. More than a house of worship, this structure was designed as a community center with attached classrooms, a medical dispensary, and meeting spaces. The architecture incorporated sustainable elements including rainwater harvesting systems, natural cooling features, and energy-efficient lighting, demonstrating that sacred spaces could also model environmental responsibility.

At the inaugural Friday prayer, worshippers from diverse backgrounds filled the prayer hall, many having previously traveled hours to reach the nearest mosque. "This masjid brings both spiritual and practical blessings," observed local imam Sheikh Abdullah. "The faithful have a place to worship, children have classrooms to learn, and the sick have a place to receive care, all under one roof."

Project 4:

Cianjur, Indonesia Earthquake Relief

Nature's destructive power tested GER's emergency response capabilities when a devastating earthquake struck Cianjur, Indonesia in late 2022. The organization's established presence in the region enabled a rapid deployment of search and rescue teams, followed by distribution of emergency supplies to survivors. As families slept in makeshift tents amid the rubble of their homes, GER workers arrived with not just material aid but critical psychological support.

"In the immediate aftermath, people need blankets and food," explained a GER disaster response coordinator. "But they also need someone to listen to their stories and affirm their trauma." This holistic approach to disaster relief addresses both physical and emotional needs exemplified GER's evolving methodology.

The Year In Reflection: 2022

Throughout these diverse initiatives, a common thread emerged: Global Ehsan Relief was no longer simply responding to crises but actively building infrastructure, both physical and organisational to create sustainable solutions for communities facing chronic challenges. The year's accomplishments laid groundwork for even more ambitious humanitarian endeavours to follow, with each new office, mosque, and water well representing not just immediate relief but long-term investment in human potential.
