In 2016, Global Ehsan Relief stepped beyond borders, reaching crisis-hit communities with compassion and urgency. From war-torn Syria to earthquake-struck Aceh, and from displaced families in Myanmar to the hungry during Ramadan, our teams delivered emergency aid and hope. That year also saw the birth of our Global Waqf initiative, laying spiritual foundations through construction of madrasahs and masjids.
As conflict raged across Syria, Global Ehsan Relief volunteers navigated dangerous terrain to bring emergency food packages to families huddled in makeshift shelters.
"The gratitude in their eyes told us everything we needed to know," recalled one field officer who helped distribute life-saving supplies to those who had lost everything.
When the earth shook in Aceh, our emergency response teams were on the ground within days, providing immediate relief to families standing amid the rubble of their former homes. Children clutched donated blankets while parents received essential supplies to begin rebuilding their lives.
Meanwhile, in communities across the world, the first foundations were being laid for our Global Waqf initiative. Soon, the sounds of children reciting Quranic verses would fill newly constructed madrasahs, while communities gathered in purpose-built masjids—creating lasting spiritual sanctuaries for generations to come.
In Myanmar, our field teams trekked through difficult terrain to reach displaced communities, bringing not just material aid but also hope to those who had begun to feel forgotten by the outside world. Their smiles of relief spoke volumes about the impact of human connection during times of crisis.
Throughout the blessed month of Ramadan, Global Ehsan Relief ensured that poverty would not prevent Muslims from breaking their fasts with dignity.
From Somalia's drought-stricken villages to refugee camps across multiple continents, the organization's Ramadan food aid and iftar meals brought the spirit of the holy month to those most in need.
