On the 21st night of Ramadhan, our Global Ehsan Relief team held our first ever LIVE talk show, Chasing Laylatul Qadr, through Livestream. Members of our fundraising team discussed the significance of the last 10 nights of Ramadhan alongside our esteemed guest host, Ustazah Hidayah, who is also the co-founder of By.Hifa Group.
It was a wholesome hour filled with insightful views and topics by Ustazah Hidayah. For instance, Ustazah shared important gems and advice on making the most out of our last ten nights in Ramadhan.
Here are three gems shared by Ustazah on how you can optimise your last 10 nights of Ramadhan!
Firstly, it is to begin to reflect on our relationship with the Qur’an. In Surah Al-Baqarah Allah S.W.T. tells us about what makes Ramadhan special. And what makes Ramadhan greatly special is the mention of the Qur’an, the Qur’an being sent down by Allah S.W.T. and the Quran was sent down for many reasons. For one, it was sent down for our guidance and our means of differentiating between what is right and what is wrong.
So again, without the Qur’an, Ramadhan wouldn’t be as special as it is. And as we speak about the last 10 nights of Ramadhan, about the night of Decree, all of these matters would come into play. I think the first thing that we have to ask ourselves is, how is my relationship with the Qur’an? How much have I interacted with the Qur’an? Is it still up on the shelves, collecting dust? Or maybe for some of us we’re a little bit more tech-savvy so we’ll use our phone apps to read the Qur’an on the go.
So think about your relationship with the Qur’an. Think about maybe you have been reciting the Qur’an a little, or a lot this Ramadhan. Think about how you are learning things that have been mentioned in the Qur’an. Because interaction with the Qur’an is not just when you recite it, but also about what it speaks about. Because the Qur’an, the message is from Allah S.W.T. and we really want to understand what Allah S.W.T. is trying to tell us. So there’s reciting, learning the Qur’an, there’s also the part where we need to begin to reflect on the verses of the Qur’an and I think as we are in the last 10 nights of Ramadhan, maybe you want to begin to reflect on Surah Al-Qadr itself.
And the last part will be to apply what we have reflected, what we have learnt from the verses of the Qur’an.
“Think about your relationship with the Qur’an. Think about how you are learning things that have been mentioned in the Qur’an, because interaction with the Qur’an is not just when you recite it, but also about what it speaks about,”

This would include our parents, our family, our friends, the people that we love. What’s important for us to understand is that when we want to get closer to Allah S.W.T., we also need to take care of our relationships that we have around us. Sometimes we feel like, ‘oh I want to chase Laylatul Qadr, so it’s just about me and Allah S.W.T., my worship with Allah, my time with Allah.’ But really, through our interactions with the people around us, that can also continue to strengthen our relationship with Allah S.W.T.
The Prophet S.A.W. reminds us that if you continue to show mercy on the people on the Earth, and not just people but all of the creations of Allah S.W.T., those in the sky would be merciful to you. Ask yourself, ‘how can I be more merciful in my day to day? How can I be a little bit more merciful to my loved ones, to my family, friends, colleagues?’ And what is also important is to ask yourself ‘how can I be a little bit more merciful to myself?’ I think sometimes we’re so focused on serving other people that we forget that we are also a person, we are also a creation of Allah S.W.T. So we are also deserving of that mercy.
Our interactions with Allah S.W.T. will also be impacted by the relationships with the people around us. And we need to consider the importance of fulfilling the rights of people, as a member of the community, and especially to our Muslim brothers and sisters as well. And beautifully mentioned is how Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months. And I want to emphasise the word ‘better’. So if you feel like a thousand months is long, just ask yourself, ‘can I do a good deed consistently for 1,000 months?’ Definitely not.
But here, we have this golden ticket that when we maximise, when we make full use of this Laylatul Qadr, one good deed that we do during the Night of Qadr can be equivalent to more than doing that consistent deed throughout 1,000 months.
We hope that these tips and reminders will help you elevate the remaining days of Ramadhan, insyaAllah! May Allah S.W.T. accept all our deeds and worship in this holy month and blessed us with His blessings.
