Friday: The Best Day of the Week

“The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday; on it Adam was created and on it he was made to enter Paradise. On Friday, also, Adam was expelled from Paradise. And the [last] hour (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) will take place on no day other than Friday.”

The Prophet, (Tirmidhi)

For Muslims, Friday is the most important and blessed day of the week. Though most of the time, many of us tend to forget the significance of Fridays.

Here are some ways for you to make the most out of the blessed day of the week!

Good Deeds on a Friday

  • Reciting Surah Al-Kahf
  • Greet your parents
  • Give charity in the name of Allah S.W.T.
  • Leaving early to the mosque and waiting in the mosque for prayers to begin
  • Listening to the Friday Sermon

Preparations for Jumaah Prayers

  • Purify yourself with a shower and making ablution
  • Dress yourself with clean clothes and a nice fragrance
  • Not talking between the prayers
  • Be punctual and be closer to the Imam
  • Avoid stepping over people to get a particular spot in the mosque. Instead, try to find a spot that will not disturb others

“If a man takes bath on Friday, cleans himself as much as he can, oils his hair, applies perfume available in his house, sets forth for the mosque, does not separate two people (to make a seat for himself), performs as many Prayers as written [by Allah] for him, remains silent when the Imam speaks, his sins between that Friday and the following Friday will be forgiven.”

The Prophet, (Al-Bukhari)

Blessings & Virtues of Friday

  • Muslims should always make supplications to Allah S.W.T. for anything their hearts desire, any moment of the day. Though, Friday is a special day where we are reminded to make more supplications and prayers for Allah S.W.T. to grant our duas. Furthermore, there is an hour in the day when our supplications are accepted.

Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. said, “There is no day more virtuous than Friday. There is such an hour on this day that no Muslim will make dua in it except that his dua will be accepted. And he does not seek protection from anything except that Allah will grant him protection.”(Tirmidhi)

Imagine our duas and prayers being accepted by The Almighty!

  • When someone passes away on the night or day of Friday, they will be protected from the trial of the graves

“No Muslim dies on the day of Friday, nor the night of Friday, except that Allah (Most High) protects him from the trials of the grave.” (Tirmidhi)
