Two weeks ago, we celebrated one of our biggest Ramadhan events – Global Ehsan Relief’s annual Ramadhan Charity Drive, Mega edition!
Every year during Ramadhan, our generous donors, volunteers, and staff come together to support the most vulnerable members of our community, supplying them with enough food to last them throughout the month,
This year we ramped it up, reaching out to more people than ever before! Thanks to our awesome Ehsan community, we raised enough funds to provide 700 low-income families with a food aid hamper jam-packed with essential groceries.
Each hamper contained essentials such as rice, cooking oil, noodles, canned goods, and condiments. These goods will enable these families to cook iftar and sahoor meals for themselves throughout Ramadhan, ensuring that they will have enough to eat.
The day before the event, on April 1, volunteers from our Ehsan Community, Robert Walters Group, and SG Cares came together to help with the packing and arranging of the food aid packs. They worked tirelessly to ensure that the hampers were ready for distribution the following day.
On April 2, the day of the event, partners such as F10 Singapura, Singapore Bikerz Inclub (SBI), and more arrived early at Masjid Maarof to pack up the hampers and divide into teams. These teams then dispersed island-wide to all the 700 families, delivering the food hampers right to their doorstep. The beneficiaries included single mothers, orphaned families, elders, the disabled, and other vulnerable families.
Despite the challenges of doing the event while fasting, the Mega Ramadhan Charity Drive was a resounding success and a wonderful experience for everyone involved. It was heartwarming to see the joy on the faces of the families who received the food hampers, and hear how much it would help them throughout Ramadhan.
Global Ehsan Relief hopes to continue this annual event and help even more families in need next Ramadhan. We believe that everyone deserves access to basic necessities such as food. Through our efforts, we hope to make a positive difference in the lives of those who need it the most, in Ramadhan and beyond.
