Umm Kurz narrated that she asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about the 'Aqiqah. He said: "For the boy is two sheep, and for the girl is one, it will not harm you if they (i.e. the sheep) are male or female." - Jami` at-Tirmidhi.

Aqiqah is a Sunnah performed upon the birth of a child, to express gratitude to Allah S.W.T for blessing the family with offspring. The Prophet S.A.W. himself offered Aqiqah for his beloved grandsons, Hasan (R.A.) and Husain (R.A.).
