What Refugees Face in Winter
When the cold comes, you reach for a blanket, turn on the heater, and sit down to a hot meal at the end of the day.
For most refugees, these luxuries are out of reach.
At the end of 2025, more than 117 million people worldwide were refugees, forcibly displaced from their homes. That's about one in every 70 people on Earth. Sadly, almost 30% are children. Many of these families live in tents or damaged homes, vulnerable to the weather. As temperatures drop, thin walls and wet ground become daily dangers they must face.
Last winter, in Gaza alone, nearly one million people lacked proper shelter. In Afghanistan, more than 17 million people face acute hunger while battling winter temperatures that can fall to -25°C. And 1.2 million Rohingya who have fled Myanmar now live in Bangladesh’s overcrowded camps, where 35% of households rely entirely on aid.
All of them are facing another long, painful winter season, with no hope on the horizon.
Your Gift Can Change This
Global Ehsan Relief is launching our annual Winter Emergency Appeal on 6 November, and we need your help to make a difference. Our goal this year is to raise S$250,000 to support 50,000 refugees across 12 locations:
Afghanistan
Bangladesh (Rohingya refugees)
Iraq
Jordan
Lebanon
Middle Eastern countries
Pakistan
Palestine (Gaza)
Sudan
Türkiye
Yemen
You may be far away, but your gift can still reach them. It can become a coat on a cold child, or a meal for a hungry family. This winter, you can Be Their Warmth.
Sadaqah That Grows
As Muslims, giving is at the heart of our faith. Allah SWT compares the charity of those who spend in His cause to a single grain that grows into seven stalks, each with a hundred grains. He multiplies the reward for whom He wills (Quran 2:261).
The Prophet SAW taught us to give, even when we have little. He told us to guard ourselves from the Fire by giving even half a date in charity (Sahih al-Bukhari 1417). He also taught that every Muslim should give sadaqah. He named many ways to do it, from sharing what you earn to helping someone in need (Sahih Muslim 1008).
Even a small gift makes a big difference. Your sadaqah may reach a family you will never meet, but who will pray for your health in gratitude. It may keep a child warm on the coldest nights and bring comfort long after winter ends.
