GERSG’s Family Iftar with Orphaned Families

On the blessed 25th of Ramadhan, our Global Ehsan Relief Singapore & Malaysia team, along with our CEO Mr Basheer Ahmad, got together to have a grand Iftar with our Orphaned Families. A total of 10 orphaned families came to join the festivities and were treated to a buffet-spread Iftar!

It was a beautiful event carried out at The Orange Ballroom in Singapore, where our team planned a simple Iftar program for the orphaned families consisting of delicious food, quizzes, prizes and even praying Taraweeh together.

A special segment of the night also included our Eid Gifts distribution, where the orphaned children and their widowed mothers received new Eid clothes, bottles of Raya cookies, Global Ehsan Relief’s exclusive Ehsan Sunnah Box and Raya money.

For Mdm Hikmah, she expressed her joy and gratitude in receiving new Eid clothes and Raya cookies for her family of five. Mdm Hikmah’s husband passed away in 2021 due to cancer. He left behind seven children – four that are currently under the care of Mdm Hikmah while three of her children are under foster care.

Mdm Hikmah is currently unemployed and shared how it has been difficult to find a job, even a part-time job, due to her responsibilities of caring for her young children.

She also expressed her gratitude in receiving our Ramadhan Food Aid Pack during our Mega Ramadhan Charity Drive event – it has helped her to save tremendously from spending money on Iftar and is able to cook more often with the sponsored groceries.

It was a memorable event, with the orphaned children and their mothers bidding goodbye with smiles on their faces. Seeing the children smiling and happy is all that we could have asked for on these last blessed nights of Ramadhan.

Eid is a time of joy, celebration and togetherness. But for disadvantaged children around the world, Eid can be a reminder of what they don’t have. This year, we’re aiming to donate 2,000 sets of Eid Gifts for children who live in poverty-stricken areas, war-torn countries and disaster zones who may often than not, miss out on the joys of Eid.

Be part of spreading the joys of Eid to these children by donating to an Eid Gift set, consisting of new Eid clothes, a pair of shoes, toys and Eid money!
